Some anniversaries call for cake. Others for champagne. But the anniversary of Sir Edmond Gin calls for something different: a well-filled glass of vanilla infused gin, good company, and a moment to look back on an adventure that began ten years ago with an idea not everyone believed in.
Today, on 22 September 2026, Sir Edmond Gin celebrates its tenth anniversary. And me? I've had a front-row seat throughout the journey. As the flamingo on the label, I've watched the world change, seen thousands of glasses raised, and experienced more adventures than you might expect from a bird that spends most of its time standing on one leg.
And today, I'd like to raise a glass to a journey that went further than anyone could have imagined.
The beginning of something special
Every great story has an origin. The story of Sir Edmond Gin doens't begin in Amsterdam, nor in a distillery, but on the island of La Réunion.
It was there, in 1841, that Edmond Albius discovered a method of hand-pollinating vanilla. A breakthough that made vanilla accessible to the rest of the world and which still forms the foundaton of almost all vanilla production today.
More than 170 years later, his story inspired something entirely new: a gin in which Bourbon vanilla would not simply be an ingredient, but the defining character of the spirit. The world's first Bourbon vanilla infused gin.
Ten years later, Sir Edmond Gin has grown from an ambitious idea into a globally recognized premium gin brand. Over the past decade, nearly half a million bottles have been sold around the world, and the brand has been enjoyed in more than 40 countries. From bars and restaurants to hotels and homes, Bourbon vanilla has found its way into glasses across the globe.
What we learned along the way
One of the greatest lessons? Bartenders turned out to be the true storytellers of this adventure.
They took a bottle of Sir Edmond Gin and created serves no one could have predicted. From a refined Gin & Tonic to an Espresso Martini with a touch of vanilla. From classic cocktails with a twist to entirely new creations.
What began as a single recipe grew into dozens of signature serves, crafted by people who truly know their trade.
A good story travels far. What started in traditional Dutch cafés found its way into cocktail bars, restaurants, and five-star hotels around the world. From Amsterdam to Hong Kong, there always seemed to be room for a gin that did things a little differently.
The heart remained the same
Despite everything that has changed over the past ten years, the heart of Sir Edmond has remained exactly the same.
A distinctive character. A passion for Bourbon vanilla. And the belief that the best moments are created when people come together over a great drink.
Because, in the end, it isn't really about the gin.
