Some evenings don't need planning. The temperature does most of the work already: the air is warm, the shadows grow longer, and somewhere in the garden or on the balcony you can hear the sound of ice against glass. These are the evenings I was made for - call me your summer wingman.
A few things that make the difference.
Start with good ice
Nothing ruins a summer gin faster than weak, quickly melting ice. Full, hard ice cubes keep your drink cooler for longer without diluting it straight away. Fill the glass generously, more than you'd first be inclined to.
Choose a glass that gives room to breathe
A Copa Glass really lets the botanicals in Sir Edmond come through. The Bourbon Vanilla, juniper and cardamom need air to be properly tasted, not just in the nose but out on the terrace too.
Play with the garnish
A slice of orange, a sprig of rosemary, a few raspberries dropped into the glass. Small touches that give a simple gin and tonic that extra something, without making it complicated.
Surround yourself with the right people
The best summer evenings aren't necassarily the ones with the most beautiful cocktail. They're the evenings where the glass becomes a reaso to stay a little longer, to tell one more story, to laugh once more.

50 ml Sir Edmond Gin
150 ml premium tonic
Ice cubes
Fresh strawberry slices and a sprig of mint
And let time do its work
Nothing needs to be rushed. Let the ice melt, let the flavors unfold, let the conversation go where it wants to go. That's the heart of a perfect summer evening: not perfection but not wanting it to end. And when the glass is empty, well - this bird always finds a reason to stay a little longer too.
